Description

The DELL LTO3 tape cartridge or LTO Ultrium 3 Data Cartridge 0HC591 has a native capacity of up to 400GB and a compressed capacity of up to 800GB. Dell LTO3 data cartridges have a transfer rate of up to 80MB/sec while writing data in native format and up to 160MB/sec while writing data in compressed format. The Dell LTO Ultrium3 data cartridge is blue-grey in colour and can be read and written to in all LTO3 Ultrium3 drives, can be read and written to in all LTO4 Ultrium4 drives, and can be read only in all LTO5 Ultrium5 tape drives.

Dell advises that LTO Ultrium tape durability is at 1,000,000 passes on any area of tape which equates to over 20,000 end-to-end passes or 260 full tape backups. Beyond 260 full tape backups a tape cannot be relied upon to hold all the data. They also state there is an archival life of 30 years if a new tape is used, the climatic conditions stated below are maintained together with a dust free operating environment and careful handling.

Drives that use the Dell LTO Ultrium 3 data cartridges 0HC591 are recommended to use an LTO Ultrium Universal Cleaning Cartridge to keep the drive clean.

Handling and Storage

  • Before you use a cartridge, let it acclimate to the normal operating environment for 24-48 hours
  • Ensure that all surfaces of the cartridge are dry before use
  • Do not expose the cartridge to moisture or direct sunlight
  • Always ship or store a cartridge in the vertical orientation and inside a jewel case to prevent damage to the tape edge unless in a specifically designed case for holding tapes
  • Do not expose recorded or blank cartridges to stray magnetic fields (eg. terminals, motors, video equipment, X-ray equipment, or fields that exist near high-current cables or power supplies). Such exposure can lead to loss of data or render the blank cartridge unusable

Warranty Information

Warranty Dell Inc. ("Dell") warrants to the end user, in accordance with the following provisions, that its hardware products, purchased by the end user directly from Dell or from an authorized distributor/reseller of Dell in Latin America or the Caribbean, are free from defects in materials, workmanship and design affecting normal use for a period of one year from original purchase date. Products for which a proper claim is made shall be, at Dell's discretion (in those jurisdictions where such decision lies in Dell's power), repaired or replaced at Dell's expense. All the parts removed from the repaired products shall become the property of Dell. Dell uses parts from various manufacturers to make repairs. The parts may be new or refurbished (except when by law Dell must use new parts in the repair) and of equivalent or higher quality and technology, with respect to the original product specifications. Exclusions This warranty does not apply to defects arising from: Normal wear and tear. Suitability of the product for a particular purpose or use (this exclusion does not apply to products purchased in Peru). Third-party products, such as software, whose warranty shall be delivered to the customer directly by the manufacturer or licensor of said products. Any instruction given by the customer and performed by Dell. Causes not attributable to defects of manufacture and/or defects of material. Replacement of parts, repair or attempt to repair the product by persons not authorized by Dell. Lack of maintenance or service of the product in accordance with the indications in the instruction manual. Accidents or negligence in use of the Product. Abuse or improper use of the product or use other than normal domestic use, or not in accordance with the instruction manual. Bad connection of the product to other products indicated in the instruction manual or connection of the product to any equipment other than those. "Presence of sand, spills from liquid substances, water, burns or any foreign element inside the product. Spikes or drops in voltage in the network or connection of the product to networks whose voltage does not correspond to that listed in the instruction manual. Damage caused by floods, earthquakes, fire, electrical storms, impacts, and/or incorrect transport. Any disposable part, for example batteries, unless damage is due to a defect in the materials or workmanship. If any Dell serial number or service label has been eliminated or erased. Breakage or cracking of LED or screen. Force majeure or act of God, and, in general, any event that is outside the possible control of Dell.
