HPE MSL3040 Tape Library Scalable base model with no drives & 40 Tape Slots Q6Q62B

The HPE StoreEver MSL3040 tape library (Q6Q62B) is an LTO Ultrium tape library only (no tape drives) with 40 licenced LTO tape slots, and with space for up to 3 HPE MSL LTO tape drives to be installed. The HPE MSL3040 tape library package comes the library, documentation, and a rack or rail kit for this 3U library and a 1 year next business day warranty. These can be HPE MSL SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) or FC (Fibre Channel) tape drives as the library itself can take either drive as the drives are connected through a cable from the rear of the tape library's drives to a SAS or FC HBA card installed in the server, PC or an adapter or other appliance to connect to the network. The HPE MSL3040 LTO Ultrium tape library itself has a 1 year Basic Next Business Day (NBD) warranty which covers any HPE MSL LTO Ultrium tape drives installed into this library from the date of purchase. This warranty can be extended up to 3 years, or 5 years when purchased new, and covers all tape drives installed. This includes any MSL LTO tape drives still operational you have from previous HPE tape libraries. The only tape drives currently available new for HPE LTO Ultrium tape libraries are the HPE MSL LTO-7, HPE MSL LTO-8 and HPE MSL LTO-9 tape drives.

Scalability: It has the option for up to 3 tape drives and 40 tape slots in the scalable base library unit. It can then add on an up to an additional 6 library units creating up to 280 tape slots and up to 21 x LTO-7 or LTO Ultrium7, LTO-8 or LTO Ultrium8, LTO-9 or LTO Ultrium9 tape drives.

Power supply upgrade kit: This option allows for an additional redundant power supply to be added.

Extended warranty: The warranty can be upgraded from the HPE 1 year Next Business Day (NBD) Warranty that the library comes with, to a HPE 3 year Foundation Care Next Business Day (NBD) Response Warranty or a HPE 3 year Foundation 24x7 Response Warranty for the library and it's tape drives. A 5 year version of either the NBD or 24x7 warranty is also available.

Partitioning: This allows each partitioned library to be presented to the host as an independent library, separate from other partitions in the library.

HPE TapeAssure Advanced: This will proactively and intelligently monitor utilization, performance and overall life and health of the library, drives and media.

Encryption: The MSL3040 library has an encryption licence available and a key manager for additional security. 

HPE Secure Manager License: This provides an additional level of security that lets you control access to the tape library by authorizing specific servers. It increases reliability by blocking disruptive traffic from unauthorized hosts to the library.

High availability path failover: This uses host drivers in conjunction with library and drive firmware to manage multiple paths across multiple SANs. It presents a single drive or robot path to applications and automatically transfer commands to an alternate path if the original one is lost.
