Description
The IBM LTO8 data cartridge or the IBM LTO Ultrium 8 Data Cartridge 01PL041 stores up to 12TB in native or uncompressed capacity at speeds up to 360MB/sec, and up to 30TB of compressed data at speeds up to 900MB/sec. These IBM LTO8 tapes can therefore store up to 1.38TB per hour native/uncompressed or up to 3.24TB per hour compressed. The IBM LTO 8 tape cartridge continues the use of Barium Ferrite (BaFe) particles which improves reliability, longevity and density. The IBM LTO8 tape cartridges 01PL041 are the Generation 8 tapes and are only exceeded in size and speed by LTO9 data cartridges. Please note this cartridge is the same cartridge as the Lenovo branded tape, but Lenovo is the retail brand of IBM and usually more expensive!
For the option of LTO barcode labels attached to your tapes please see Application of Tape Barcode Labels for details.
Drives that use the IBM LTO Ultrium 8 data cartridges 01PL041 are recommended to use the IBM LTO Ultrium Universal Cleaning Cartridge 35L2086 to keep the drive clean.
