Maxell LTO Ultrium Universal Cleaning Cartridge 183804

The Maxell LTO Ultrium Universal Cleaning Cartridge 183804 or Maxell LTO cleaning tape cleans all LTO Ultrium drives. The Maxell LTO Universal Cleaning Cartridge will clean all LTO drives and libraries including; LTO1/Ultrium1, LTO2/Ultrium2, LTO3/Ultrium3, LTO4/Ultrium4, LTO5/Ultrium5, LTO6/Ultrium6, LTO7/Ultrium7, LTO8/Ultrium8 and LTO9/Ultrium9 drives. The Maxell LTO cleaning tape cartridge achieves 15-50 cleans which is dependent on the drive and the level of cleaning required each time it is used. The cleaning process takes around 30 seconds. The Maxell LTO cleaning tape cleans the heads which write and read the data, as well as other parts in the tape path of the drive. This cleaning process improves the performance of the drive and the quality and amount of the data backed up to the tape. As tape drives get older and out of spec, or the tapes get older the tape drive will require more cleaning and this cartridge will give a lesser number of cleans. Your drive is then becoming unreliable or the heads are failing and data written becomes poor and more difficult to read. This is a good time to call for service if you still have maintenance cover or consider replacing the tape drive.

LTO Universal cleaning tapes are equipped with a computer memory chip (just like the data tape). The chip stores various information and it has an embedded code that is recognized by the compatible drive's firmware. Once the cleaning cartridge is used to capacity (15 - 50 uses, drive dependent), the drive will no longer accept the cleaning tape and will eject the tape, prohibiting further use.
