Description
The Sony LTO5 or LTO Ultrium 5 data cartridge LTX1500G holds up to 1.5TB of data native capacity with up to 3.0TB of compressed data. The Sony LTO Ultrium 5 tape cartridge has a transfer rate of up to 140MB/sec while writing data in native capacity and up to 280MB/sec while writing data in compressed capacity. The Sony LTX1500G tape have 1280 tracks and a tape length of 846 meters. The Sony LTO 5 tape has a lifetime durability of 1,000,000 passes. A pass is each time the tape changes direction so a backup could have over 1,000 passes depending on the data written.The Sony LTO 5 LTX1500G tapes are backward compatible and therefore able to read or written to in all LTO5 or LTO Ultrium 5 drives, able to be read and written to in all LTO6 or LTO Ultrium 6 drives, and can be read only in all LTO7 LTO Ultrium7 drives. As we are an authorised distributor, all Sony products we sell have the support of the Australian warranty to protect your investment. Sony LTO Ultrium tapes can be purchased individually, by the box of 5 or carton of 20.

Drives that use the Sony LTO Ultrium 4 data cartridges LTX800G are recommended to use the LTO Ultrium Universal Cleaning Cartridge to keep the drive clean.
Advancements to the high-performance cartridge Sony has developed an innovative reel hub design that maintains an ideal gap between the tape edge and the reel flange to ensure operating stability. The improvements in coaxiality of the hub and drive rotation axes during operation will give customers peace of mind when using Sony LTO5 cartridges in any LTO5 drive. The new binder system offers more stable operation, durability and reliability. The Strong Binder System with high cross-linking and abrasion-resistant characteristics achieves a remarkable robustness of the magnetic layer, that can withstand more than tens of thousands of passes between the head and the tape. This new binder system also includes a lubrication system that helps attain a more stable operation and smooth running under various environments.
